did someone say toddlers?

i sure did!

for any of you who haven't worked with children in that age group (we're talking 1 & 1/2 to 2 & 1/2 year olds here, people...), they are little bundles of energy strung so high that when combined, they could probably power the whole town for a decade.

things i learned today:

-every childs' name! (izaia, sonia, matthew, hunter, pedro and ravel (pudgy)-twins, raniel, and joeshua. after saying things like: "(insert name here), no. (insert name here), get down. (insert name here), leave him alone. (insert name here) leave your brother alone. (insert name here) hands to yourself. (insert name here) go back to the classroom please..." get the point? you learn names very quickly.

-that 8 is enough! i worked for 6 hours today with 8 toddlers... and usually, there are 18... oh goodness...

-sand doesn't belong anywhere but in the sandbox!!! this includes in hands, eyes, clothing, hair, mouths, your friends' eyes, etc. (hey kate: miss c, what's this? ack! throw your hugs!)

-naptime is such a good idea. rubbing their backs, and they were so cute laying on their individual mats, sleeping soundly...

-naptime is such a bad idea. they recharge their batteries entirely so that they can come back full speed ahead.

-don't do it to one if you don't want to do it for all of them. for example, lifting them up so they can see over the divider into the infants room... yeah, i did that enough times.

-no means yes, no means maybe, and no means no. do these kids really have any idea what they want? for example: "(insert name here) do you want more milk?" answer = no. as soon as you walk away, answer = yes. i don't get it...

-that infants, or at least one of them, are afraid of me. i was feeding nicholas in the morning (he was fine with that, and so were the other 4 infants), and the other infant cried incessantly until i left the room... sheesh...

-that i don't think i will need another job... i don't think i can get out of work this tired, and go to work again...

...and that, folks, was my day. i'll post again soon. but for now... I AM SO TIRED!!!!!!!!!
