Subject: Great weekend.

This weekend was definitely awesome. It started off on Friday night with dinner at Tony's house with Matt-- Tony's Dad made some really awesome veal and ohhh boy was it good. Then we planned to head to the Southington Octoberfest, which Tony basically described as "lame." Well, lemme tell ya, a couple pitchers of Sam Adams Octoberfest will really liven any night up. We definitely drank enough and had enough food (HOT!!!) and watched the Yanks lose :( before moving on to the bar where one of Tony's friends was playing. A few shots (ahhh sicilian kiss) and a Corona later, Tony was driving my car home (yeahhhhh it was one of those nights). Luckily we made it home in one piece and I made it back to Hartford safely later that night. It was a really fun night- I love those boys!!

Saturday I cleaned up a lot around the apartment and then I went to Sturbridge to babysit my favorite kids: Jillian, Shannon, and Patrick. It was so great to see them and they were excited to see me too... :) I love those kids!!

I left around 8 just in time to make the 2 hour drive to New Hampshire to stay with Lynn for the night :) to run the Great Island 5K in the morning. I slept like a freakin baby all night, which was amazing... only to be woken up by Two (the cat-child). We met up with our Reach the Beach teammate Nick Swanson and all 3 of us ran a pretty decent race! I ran much faster than I usually do, and the course was actually pretty tough. I really surprised myself and was really happy with my results. Of course I wasn't as slow as Swanson, who ran 2 splits under 7 minutes and one 7:30 split. ;) Afterwards we met up with Mike, Deb, and Jaime and went out for breakfast. I had the most amazing fruit parfait and a blueberry muffin. I know that 2 hours is a long way to drive for a 5K... but it was worth every cramped up and exhausted mile on the way home cause I felt so great after seeing Lynn and Nick again!!

Once again I'm reminded of the comeraderie of the sport that I love... that everyone has great days, discouraging days, triumphs over weakness, failures, disappointments, and victories... but to have a group of people that support you and encourage you throughout makes everything worthwhile in the end. To have people that are truly happy for your accomplishments and who feel for you when you fail... it's a great feeling!!!

Looking forward...
