So there I was...

Finally an ounce of free time. Between band and classes, I come home each night barely able to finish up some work before collapsing into bed in a pile of mushy brain and tired body. I am sure that I'm just not used to being back yet. It's only been a couple of weeks... and a couple of overwhelming weeks at that. For example, yesterday at band, we learned an entire song's worth of drill. For those of you not "in the know" about band stuff, that's a lot! It usually takes forever to get to sets and set them so they aren't just a mass of band kids in a sad looking form. Dr. Mills is on a mission: I'll call it Project "MakeTheBandLookGreatBeforeSaturday".

Last night was fun. After band I stayed behind to help out Lauren and Tricia, carrying stuff and such. But the fun started after I stopped at the music building to pick up gloves. When I came home, Amanda had baked sugar cookies! I thought that was the greatest thing ever. Then we ordered DP Dough when Becky came home. On top of all that food, Becky baked BROWNIES last night and they smelled faaaannnntastic for like 2 hours! It was great.

...I guess I forgot to mention that I had to read a good solid 45 pages for history... I got to page 16 before I decided that I couldn't keep my eyes open for another sentence and went to bed. It was the second best part of my day. (Aside from DP Dough and baked goods!)

I am deciding to try something new this semester. Let's start by saying I have no set "religion"-- whatever that term means to you. I have to say that religion is the one conversation that makes me so uncomfortable with people. Maybe it is a self-consciousness of not having one, or not being raised on one... but either way, the topic makes me want to hide. I suppose my mission is to find some FAITH of some sort that works for me. I want... maybe even need... something to believe in. I'm not sure where to start, but I think I am going to try out a few different things with some friends. Wish me luck in my quest...

I am so glad it is Friday. A crazy Friday, granted, but at least Friday. No classes until TUESDAY! (Hell yes, labor day.) Pre-show tonight, game tomorrow, party tomorrow night?, Shannon's 21st PARTY on Sunday night, and sleep and work (unfortunately) on Monday. Good times with good people!

I'll drink to that...! ;)

What's up, Blog kids?

Classes- ugh! I am so overwhelmed with mine. I am taking 5- and I have a million books, and we're starting like 5 of them this week! I also volunteered for a history essay (we have to volunteer for 2 of them over the course of the semester... and the final 6-page paper) and I have NO IDEA what I am going to talk about. Naturally we have to choose the topic... ahh, what happened to Math 102? "Problem solving for kids too stupid to do any real math." Yeah, that's right, Kate and I took that last semester. IT WAS AN EASY A! Where did it go?!

I'm getting used to not having Jeff around, although at night I do get lonely. We didn't get to talk for long last night- his friend Eric got engaged! So they went out to Mystic to buy him drinks and stuff like that. That's so exciting. It seems like everyone is getting engaged lately! I found out yesterday when I ran into Dan Dziadul that he and Drea got engaged on top of Mt. Washington! So- Congrats to everyone!

The preview show is tomorrow night for band. It's going to be awesome. Even if it means learning another whole song's worth of drill in the next 5 hours of rehearsal. It's going to be fun anyway. Katie and Munch are coming! :) And Jeff. :) Yeah- I am looking forward to it! I can't believe the first game is freakin Saturday. That's 2 days away! Crazy. I think we can pull it off. I can't WAIT to get into Rentschler. It's the best place ever.

I hate parking services. They gave me a ticket yesterday! I went 2 days ago to try to pick up my parking pass, but they had a line that was like 3 hours long, and I only had like 10 minutes before band. So I had to step out before I even got into the building. Urgh. I'll try again today, and I'll also remember to leave REALLY early before band, and leave parking services REALLY early 'cause the traffic blows at that hour.

Shawn is an idiot. :)

Catch y'all later... peace out!

Long time no write...

So things are back in full swing here at UCONN. Classes started today... it sure looks like I am going to have my work cut out for me this semester. And I really hope they fix the air conditioning, because it is still a hundred degrees in here and humid. No fun!

I have a really positive outlook on this year... In the past week, I have made new friends, lead sectionals that I never thought I would be able to run, solved conflicts, gained respect, and given it out as well. There is one thing left hanging over my head... one sour note from last year that I pray will move toward resolution this year. A year is a long time... I will be here as long as it takes to talk through it...

I am exhausted. I know I haven't written in a really long time, but I just wanted to throw a quick one up here. Hopefully I won't be kicked out of housing in the next week. Damn Bursar's office... who knew that they worked so closely with Sallie Mae without actually communicating? I definitely didn't think it was possible...

Catch y'all on the flip side... and p.s. Check out Tony's new layout, it rocks!
