Subject: Great weekend and a funny story to boot.
This weekend was great!
Friday: Friday was a long day- fieldwork 9:30-12:30, gym for a really long time (lots of cardio) and then band. After band, I headed straight to Gales Ferry to get ready to go out to dinner and to a comedy show at Mohegan Sun with Jeff and some of our friends. It was a lot of fun (I ordered wine with dinner and felt like a big girl- haha)- we went to Olive Garden and then Mohegan. I really enjoyed the comedian- she did a lot about kids, which was funny to me because I understand it. It was a good night. Jeff and I got to bed really late though!
Saturday: I woke up at 8 to have breakfast with Jeff, who then headed out to his 9-5 class. I sat up in his bedroom and studied for my EPSY exam. It was good because it was quiet, and his mom made me lunch and stuff- it was cute. Jeff got home early so we went to Holmberg Orchards and bought some apples (Macoun- they are amazing) and pumpkins (for Kate and I) and then we went back to his house for a little bit. I headed out to go to USSBA at the Coast Guard Academy, which ended up being really fun. I was plenty warm, we had a great show, and even though it was raining, I really enjoyed it a lot. The section was really awesome. Everything was just great- it reminded me that I really do enjoy band. And I also discovered that it is really great to drive yourself to band events! I gave Tricia a ride back to the area and we headed here to pick up wine and then straight to the lake house. There was a decent party going on after awhile and we had a good time. Tricia and I rocked out on the beer pong table (hooray for good shots in clutch situations!) Trish also got annihilated, which was fun, especially on the ride home!
Sunday: BLB in the morning- fun stuff. Headed to the lake house for the retreat- also much fun! After the retreat was the best time ever. Eleven of us hung out after the retreat. Joe made paella and Glenn and Mike made a homemade apple pie. We ate fantastic spanish rice and then had warm apple pie for dessert while watching Ghostbusters! It was amazing... lots of chatting, laughing, having fun... it was the second best day to be a brother. (The first best day to be a brother in coming up real soon- y'all know what I mean) I came home in the perfect mood to write my entire paper and still go to bed at a decent hour and not be mad about anything. Great night. I love it... I love brothers!
My funny story happened today. I went to the gym thinking I would get in a good 2 hour workout per usual. When I got there, though, the weather was beautiful, so I decided to run outside. I ran part of my old route, but the main part of my old route was actually under construction, so I had to take a left instead of a right behind Hilltop Apts. So I was on a back road and I was about 35 minutes into my run when I spotted a snake. You know that crazy thing your body does when you get startled, when you kind of twitch a little bit? Yeah, well I had a normal gait going, so I placed my right foot about 4 inches from the snake and then I saw it, so my left foot landed about 15 feet to the left of my body (due to the involuntary startled-twitchy thing) and my arms flailed a bit, and then I think I sprinted the next half mile. And when I got closer to campus, I definitely sprinted the last half mile- I wanted to run a negative split and I did by a minute and a half, so yay for that! Moral of the story: somewhere on Hillyndale Road, there is a little foot-and-a-half-long black and yellow snake...
...and he is laughing at me.
The story of my life :)
