Subject: Spring!
I'm really hoping the nice weather is here to stay!
Things at work have gotten a little better. Or maybe Karen and I are finding new coping strategies to get through all the crap we deal with day to day. Either way, I have a new strategy of my own. So far, so good.
This past Saturday, E and I went to Boston to stay with Munchie before my race on Sunday. We went to Quincy market and froze to death before having dinner at Dick's Last Resort. We went back to Munchie's after and watched Borat (yes, I watched it, yes I laughed at some parts, but yes I still think it's a stupid movie) before passing out around midnight.
Sunday morning, Eric, Munchie and I went to my race: An Ras Mor in Somerville, MA (near Boston). It was pretty chilly out! The race was interesting. It was all around freakin neighborhoods, which I hate, and there were so many twists and turns and corners... I never hit my stride the whole time!! And the last mile or so was an absolute straightaway that passed the finish line and then looped back for the finish. The whole last mile, all I could think was how crappy I felt, I had cramps everywhere and couldn't breathe... like I said, I never hit my stride. To make matters worse, I had a goal of two girls to catch right before the finish and I definitely couldn't catch them. I still managed to sprint to the end, and then I checked the freakin clock and it said 25:01!!!!!! I was like WHAAAAT!!!!! I couldn't believe it, I was so happy. Afterwards, we hung out with Andy and Barbara. :) The Reach the Beach meeting is coming up...!! So soon!!
The best part is that I was not the least bit sore on Monday morning. I felt great! Of course now, 3 days before I go to New Hampshire to run the LOCO Great Bay Half Marathon, I think I'm coming down with something. NEAT.
Last night I met up with Ian, Schwab, Marti, Joe Lagosz, Matt Zadrowski, and Ossias at the Bidwell. It was really fun! I haven't seen any of them in a long time, so it was really good to catch up. Of course we got wrapped up telling stories, favorites being ones of me in an elevator in Buckley, Schwab peeing on his clothes then washing them, and Tony and Ben in NYC a few years back. It was so great to catch up. I need to stay in touch with them. It's so funny, how things are so different. I used to see Ian and Schwab EVERY DAY! But no matter how much time passes, we never skip a beat.
On that note... off to watch more of season 2 of 24. AMAZING.
