WHERE THE HELL ARE MY COMMENTS?!
Subject: Race weekend.

And a crazy weekend it was. On Friday night, I relaxed and watched FRIENDS... I took the day off from running completely. I needed it. I knew Saturday was going to be taxing, so I decided a completely run-free day was the best way to do it.

Saturday was pretty crazy. I had the section leader meeting at 1 pm. I have to admit that I had a good time, but sometimes I wonder if the band thing is still for me. I am definitely ready to be done with it. I mean I enjoy it... but I just can't relate to these "band is life" people... cause band is not my life. It's a hobby. And being a section leader is an additional responsibility, but I am not willing to go to the ends of the Earth to do this stuff. I give credit to the people who are. It's just not my life anymore...

Saturday night I headed to Litchfield with Coffill for some pre-race fun. There was pasta (mmm pasta) and swimming at his friend Matt's house with a bunch of his buddies. It was fun, I had a great time and I definitely felt very comfortable with all of them. It was great. We turned in fairly early for a not-so-fullfilling night of sleep. I admit... I was definitely nervous. I woke up about 500 times before 8 am when I finally gave up.

Sunday was the race. It was 94 degrees I think. At 1:00 in the afternoon. WHOSE IDEA WAS THAT ANYWAY?! Good lord. So I finished the race... I've never been so soaking wet in my entire life. My shirt and shorts were soaked completely through. My hair was completely wet. It was gross. It looked like I walked right out of the shower completely clothed. (I'll stop painting this very gross mental picture now) To make a long, descriptive story short... I was very uncomfortable. BUT... I finished, and I have finally felt the amazingness of crossing a finish line with a crapload of cheering... and having my name announced. It was awesome.

Sunday afternoon was PAINFUL. The sunburn, the cramped muscles, and the pulled muscle in the arch of my foot. I couldn't put my heel down for the entire night. I iced it all evening while watching a movie with Jeff... and today it felt much better. I'm still favoring it a bit, but all in all...

THIS WEEKEND WAS SO WORTH IT.

Half-marathon October 9... please come. I won't promise you the best time ever, but I promise I will never forget you being there.
