Subject: Training update

I figured I can hit this thing about once a week and update on my training thus far.

As for this week, I am super-motivated. Also, it is week #1. I am sure by my third or fourth month I'll get a little more tired of it. I am still in the process of setting up a training schedule. Runners who are training for a long run should only be adding 10% of their distance on per week. This is my first week and I am running 2.5 miles. I am running at a slow pace, but I will pick it up as the run goes on. Right now, 2.5 feels like nothing compares to what lies ahead of me. It is also easy for me to run 2.5, which is a good thing... let's see how I do when I am up to 25 miles!! It is going to be a crazy experience: training and then the 7-miler in July, the half marathon (hopefully in September, I'll talk about that in a second) and the full marathon next year. I don't want to win- I just want to finish. That would be the ultimate high. I can't wait.

I think I've found my half marathon: the weekend of September 4 in Virginia Beach: the ROCK 'N' ROLL 1/2 MARATHON. My plan would then be to go down there on the 2nd, stay for 2 nights, and run on Sunday. Maybe we can make it a road trip? I'm hoping my parents would come, and Jeff, and maybe some friends. I would love to have people at the finish line. Any takers? But this race is still pending; I don't know if I should count on a football game that weekend. I may just say screw it and run the race anyway. I'm not sure yet. But, I have some time.

So that's my update. Other than pulling my left calf last week, which is still a little sore, everything feels really good.

ROCK ON!
